How many hexagon lights do I need?
Match the kit footprint to your floor area. A single garage of roughly 18 to 25 square metres suits the HexSpace 14-Grid kit ($929, 4.0m x 2.4m); a double garage around 25 to 35 square metres suits the 23-Grid ($1,299, 4.2m x 3.9m). Zones under about 6 square metres start with a 2-grid or 3-grid, and spaces over 35 square metres run the 39-Grid or a custom layout. Colour temperature: 6500K daylight by default

Most HexSpace kits run on a standard 240V three-pin plug, so a single power point gets you running for a plug-in setup. Connectors, light bars and suspension
The hexagon light bars join with snap-lock connectors, which keeps the system linkable and expandable. For ceilings 4 metres or lower, surface-mount the grid directly to the ceiling. Above 4 metres, use the suspension kit (1-metre drop $5, 3-metre drop $8) to bring the lights down to the optimal working height of about 3 metres. Full steps are in the installation guide.
Hexagon lights vs LED battens, panels and imported kits
Hexagon lights differ from a single LED batten by spreading light from many linked points across the ceiling, which cancels the shadows a lone strip throws over benches and cars; a batten is cheaper but lights one narrow line. LED panels and oysters give flat light in fixed sizes that cannot scale, and imported hexagon kits often use plastic housings with no Australian certification.
