Kit planner FAQ

How does the planner choose the three options?

It looks at the kits that fit your ceiling with at least 30 cm to each wall, then compares each kit's rated light output with your ceiling area. Everyday lighting suits parking, storage and general use. Workshop and gym is brighter, for DIY, hobby work and training. Detailing and showroom gives the most light of the three, for detailing work and display. For common single and double garage sizes, the planner shows the kit sizes we recommend most.

Why do some options use two kits?

On a wide ceiling, two kits side by side cover more of the space than one smaller kit in the middle. In a double garage, for example, one kit sits over each car bay. The price shown is for both kits.

When does the planner suggest Large kits?

Large kits use longer tubes (568 mm, compared with 443 mm on Standard kits), so each cell is bigger and the same number of cells covers more ceiling. The planner starts suggesting them for ceilings over about 40 m², such as large garages, workshops and showrooms. For most homes, Standard kits are the better fit.

Is the brightness bar a lux reading?

No. It compares each kit's rated light output, worked out from the system wattage on our spec sheets, with the size of your ceiling. How bright the space looks also depends on ceiling height, wall colour and what is in the room.

Can I see other grid styles?

Yes. Choose Other Grid Systems at the top of the planner to see square, diamond, rectangle, bay and star kits that fit the same ceiling.
